5/4/2025

  • Subpowers changed to use the Hazard condition where available, to better use the condition that’s just an extension of DoT but to better work with creating dangerous areas of effect.
  • Added a clause to slotted Combo attacks generalizing that if you spend a slot to perform a combo attack, you don’t need to spend a second slot to do the minor action version. This was done because all the slotted combo subpowers in the system already say this anyway.

  • Entomb (greater) from Cryokinesis had wording simplified, as suspending conditions was already part of the Stasis condition. Also removed the clause for non-true damage piercing the Stasis.

2/16/2025

  • Counter Eyebeams (lesser) from Eyebeams had its Aim bonus raised to d6, and grants +1 die size on the next Eyebeams attack as well.
  • Vengeful Dirge from Whispers changed to an attack roll than a ranged attack specifically, lesser slot version had its damage reduced to d3, but grants a d3 Block die if the counterattack lands.

    • Impede: No (greater) changed to specify direct damage, closing the Impede-Pain loophole.
    • Mark: Pain (lesser) can work off Doom or Rupture. Wording also shortened, but effect left unchanged.

  • Pressure (lesser) from DMC had redundancy in imposing Blind (impair/expose) but also Impair/Expose separately. Now imposes Blind, Deafened, Stuck, and grants advantage to attacks against them.

  • Summonable minions had their HP scaling changed from P to Level.
    • Bestial Allies from Beast Control changed from 25*P to 5*Level.
    • Ravening Spirits from Whispers changed from 10*P to 2*Level. As this is comically low, their AC/resist scaling was raised to 18+P.
    • Avenging Spirit from Whispers changed from 40*P to 10*Level.

  • Neural Disruption from Antipsionics gains an additional use to attempt to deny teleports on grappled targets.
  • Gravity Well from Telekinesis replaced with Kinetic Lash, which deals with psionic grappling with your PCS instead of Athletics.
  • Eulogies from Whispers, its Avenging Spirit can use your PCS when grappling.

  • Mark: Pain from Assist now lengthens Rupture’s duration and boosts Doom’s magnitude.
  • Cryokinesis uses Doom instead of Rupture and has been updated as such.
  • At-will Permafrost from Cryokinesis uses P instead of Pd1, and procs on any Cripple or Daze.
    • Flat damage now explicitly gains +P or +Q from die size increases, so it doesn’t miss out anymore.
  • Lesser slot Permafrost from Cryokinesis deals 4P damage for Stuck and Weakens instead of Clips.
  • Scramble from Enchant can pick Exposed, Impaired, or Stuck now.
  • Fireballs from Pyrokinesis deals Cripple (10) instead of Clip, and had its damage raised to Pd4+PCM accordingly.
  • Ash Cloud from Pyrokinesis Blinds instead of Breaking.
  • Rive from Telekinesis now inflicts Exposed, Impaired, or Weakened.
  • Telekinetic Field from Telekinesis now inflicts Exposed.
  • All Ruptures now have a duration, typically 2 rounds, though a few subpowers still extend it like other conditions.
  • Neural Disruption and Anti-psi Field from Antipsionics now Impairs the target.
  • Taser from Electrokinesis now Impairs the target.
  • Clipped condition removed, replaced with Crippled (half) in all other cases.

Overhaul, a great deal has changed, so we’ll be going over broad strokes.

  • Affinities are baseline abilities known to everyone who knows any subpower from the affinity’s power. These represent utility and session-dependent uses of that power.
    • Some subpowers expand on this affinity to allow more ways to use it.
  • Combo subpowers added to certain powers.
  • Enchant’s schtick of on-hit subpowers spread out to other powers.
    • Don’t worry, Enchant got even more subpowers too.
  • Greater slots in general made to always have an effect. Would not be wrong to call it a get out of jail free pass for lesser strifes, for the combat-oriented ones.
  • Dominating Mind Control, Empathic Mind Control, and Illusion for a sort of utility triad, where it has almost no focus on strifes, preferring to double down on what they’re known for, which is hypnosis and mental compulsion, mind reading and ENGRAMS, and illusory shenanigans.
  • Beast Control and Whispers form a duo of minion powers, though minions are far from the only thing they can do.
